WVS travels to partnering veterinary hospitals in Newcastle NSW and surrounding areas, providing surgical care to patients in the familiar setting of their local hospital.
WVS works with primary veterinarians to provide a surgical service that is:
WVS provides the surgical instrumentation, implants, knowledge and skills required to manage many difficult surgical conditions, adding to the services that your local hospital can provide.
Clients and their companions benefit by remaining under the care of their local hospital in the following ways:
Involving the primary veterinarian in the treatment of a patient reduces miscommunication and inefficient and confusing alterations to treatment plans that can occur when a patient is cared for by multiple hospitals. Many clients appreciate dealing with a familiar face, particularly when they have a developed trust and may perceive a different quality of service when meeting with new people in a stressful time.
Following surgery, patients will remain primarily in the care of their hospital. WVS does not provide 24 hour care - your hospital must either provide or facilitate the provision of 24 hour care if required.
Implants and equipment used are modern and of the highest standard available in veterinary practice.
WVS strives to maintain a high standard of evidence-based patient care through continuing education. Dr Dan Wills regularly attends surgical work-shops and conferences in order to practice at a high standard in line with current concepts and proven evidence. He is a member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS) Small Animal Surgery chapter.
